Master planning the State of Palestine: Suggested Guidelines for
Comprehensive Development:
This
study presents general profiles of the major Palestinian
socio-economic sectors and broad guidelines for a suggested future
development strategy with emphasis on those productive and services
sectors which have spatial and regional sensitivity and tend to have
more tangible and direct impact on the practical aspects of
Palestinian reconstruction and development, particularly in the
immediate post independence years and during the interim period.
The study also presents proposals for possible regional
arrangements, within the context of a peaceful territorial
settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict, in the areas of energy,
water resources, transportation, communications and borders.

The Environment in the
Occupied Palestinian Territory:
This study presents a profile of the geographic, demographic, social
and economic aspects of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and an
analysis of the state of the environment and the related Palestinian
institutional and administrative framework. The study proposes
general guidelines for a Palestinian National environmental action
plan, and provides an estimate of the level of investment required

Future Transportation
Infrastructure Needs for the Palestinian People in the West Bank and
the
Gaza Strip:
This study presents a general description of the
evolution of the transportation system in
Palestine,
and analysis of the existing transportation infrastructure in the
Occupied Palestinian Territory. The study also proposes guidelines
for developing a transportation system for the future independent
Palestinian State covering road, rail, sea, air and public

Agricultural Road Systems in the West Bank and the Gaza
Strip:
This study presents a general description of the evolution of the
local and village road systems in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip
and an analysis of the existing networks. The study also proposed a
detailed plan for future development and an estimate of the

Housing Strategy and Sector Analysis for the Occupied Palestinian
Territory:
This study which was conducted in cooperation with
the Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) presents a description of
the historical development of the construction on the housing sector
in the
Occupied Palestinian Territory, evaluates the present status and
performance of the sector and provides guidelines for a future

This study analyzes the water sector in the
Occupied Palestinian Territory and assesses the future supply and
effective demand. It also suggests several possible projects
that may be implemented within the context of anticipated regional

Municipal Government in
Palestine:
This study presents a detailed
historical description of the evolution of Palestinian local
government in general and municipal government in particular during
the Ottoman, British Mandate, Jordan and Egyptian eras. The study
analyses the organizational, administrative and financial aspects of
the current municipal system and proposes guidelines for future

National Housing Strategy for
Palestine:
This report provides a profile of the Palestinian
housing sector and suggests some guidelines for addressing the
housing-related issues and future housing requirements. It also
provides an estimate of the level of public investment requirements

An
investigation of the present status of the Palestinian electricity
sector including an evaluation of the generating facilities, the
transmission and distribution networks and the human and
institutional setting. The study also presents a description of the
sector's needs, guidelines for reconstruction and development and

Water Conservation in
Palestine: This Report
has been prepared with the objective contributing to the ongoing
efforts aiming at addressing the issues and problems associated with
water scarcity in the Middle East, in general, and the River Jordan
basin, in particular. Although the ideas presented in
the Report address the particular requirements Palestine, it is
hoped that the recommended water conservation measures and practices
will be implemented by all regional parties in order to safeguard
and allow the equitable and sustainable use of the available and

Physical Planning for Palestinian Rural Communities:
This study, which is based on an integrated rural
development planning approach, assesses the possibilities and
requirements for introducing a nationwide rural district and
sub-district planning and development system, including guidelines
for rural planning and management and initiation of a
learning-by-doing process through pilot projects. The study was
initiated in the Jenin and Al-Khalil districts of Palestine’s inland
region, but was then extended to cover all districts of the inland
region as well as the coastal region. The study team assessed the
limitations and potentials for socio-economic development in
Palestine’s rural areas including about 439 rural communities.

was commissioned by the Center for Refugee Studies of Canada’s York
University to assemble a high quality bibliographic volume focusing
on the area of Middle East refugees and covering a wide range of
national, regional and international annotated sources and
publications. The bibliography reflected all technical and
political views concerning the issue of displacement resulting from

Labour Intensive
Project in Palestinian Municipalities, Programme Review:
The project was funded by the Kingdom of the
Netherlands and the Norwegian’s Representative Office. The objective
of the review was to assess the achievements of the programme
compared to objectives, and to assess sustainability of the
programme activities, and finally improving the planning, management
and implementation of future labour intensive programmes to be
implemented by municipalities, aiming to achieve: Maximum income
generation for the needy, and Maximum positive impact on municipal
